This is the painting that was featured in American Artist magazine October '08, having won recognition in the Cover Artist of the Year Competition. I had wanted to paint this tree for some time, but when I came over the hill one afternoon, and the sunset lit up the usually grey bark, I knew that was it! This is the first in my ongoing series of "Tree Portraits".
